So You Think You Can Design... Week 2 - Project 365 kit

I had a lot of fun with the kit this week. The first little while was spent chatting to my CT and some of my customers who I know take part in the project. I wanted to make sure that whatever I made would be useful to them but also show off my design skills as well.

With suggestions like plain colours and simple patterns (because lets face it, there are generally a lot of photos on a page, not leaving much room for intricate patterns), things to 'attach' elements, and frame clusters, I got set to work.

The papers came first, and they were fun. I had chosen a bright and funky colour swatch, so I wanted nice bold patterns, but ones that wouldn't over-power the photos, which are the main focus of a P365 layout.

Then came the elements. Now I'll be honest and admit that these took me days. I wanted everything just right, even going out to the craft store and buying the perfect felt to make a couple of embellishments (yes, from scratch, with glue and everything LOL). I dug through my collection of buttons that I nicked from mum's craft cupboard (got to love vintage buttons!) and scribbled with my wacom in Illustrator. It had to be the perfect mix of computer generated and extracted items.

I love how it all came together.

And the icing on the cake was when Clara suggested I do some cardstock with a zigzag edge. It was the PERFECT idea! And thus my kit for this week was complete.

The contest is over now, so the links have been disabled. Look for them in my stores in the coming weeks.
